Community & Service

Community

At THRiVE we know that one’s likelihood of engaging in health promotion behaviors is highly associated to one’s environment.  Environment is heavily shaped by one’s community.  In an effort to foster a sense of community, every Thursday THRiVE offers “Health and Happy Hour” where new students are invited to take their first class for FREE. After class, students can mix and mingle, share recipes, relive class sequences, and enjoy samples from our health bar.

Service

THRiVE instructors believe in community service. Each instructor regularly lends their knowledge and talent to promote health and wellness in underserved communities.  We also encourage our students to serve as health mentors in their relationships and family.  Whether through nutritional counseling sessions or during class dialogue, students are encouraged to empower their relationships and community members to live a better, healthier life.  One does not need to be a wellness professional to serve a critical roll in shifting cultural values around food, environment, exercise, and balance.
